LOLS10在线直播下注 Here at the RUH we understand how critical energy is to our services, but we also understand the costs and environmental effects associated with unsustainable energy sources and energy wastage.

That's why we are working hard to ensure a safe, resilient and efficient supply of energy in order to maintain our critical services in the most sustainable way.

Our Actions:

We have a 2MWe Combined Heat and Power engine (CHP) which generates both heat and electricity on site, helping us to achieve energy efficiency, and reduced carbon emissions, whilst making limited resources go further.

Installed in 2015, the unit supplies the majority of the hospitals night time and weekend electricity, and in 2018/2019 we generated 81% of our electricity from our CHP unit.

Renewable energy

LOLS10在线直播下注 We've fitted solar panels on 3 of our roofs at the RUH, this means that we're producing a large amount of renewable energy. These help us reduce our carbon emissions.

LOLS10在线直播下注 Since the solar panels on the Pathology Labs have been installed (2015) they have produced enough electricity to provide the average UK household with all its electrical needs for 9 years.

During National Sustainability Awareness Week 2018 the trust ran Plant Room Tours. The aim was to engage wider hospital staff in the work that the Estates and Sustainability teams carry out on a day to day basis and to encourage staff to understand the complexities the teams face. Since then, tours have been offered to students from local universities and other teams across the Trust.
